Challenge #23 - Black is the new black!

So emotions rolled high and smh's abounded; but as usual, this team pulled it together and used BLACK as inspiration this month.
Nothing else to drive us, just BLACK!

This is my Nov. black canvas. I went deep with this one. I wanted to make something inspirational, a colourful gem of self-confidence-boosting goodness emerging from the dark blackness of self-doubt and self-deprecation. I was inspired to go for lots of different texture by an awesome Pinterest photo of some black-painted fingernails.

I had a hard time with the "BLACK" challenge. 
But since it was open to our interpretation... 
I used black as my accent for my title. Hope you like it!!!

I used black cardstock misted with white acrylic paint 
and then black acrylic paint on top of it.

Here's my November page. I collected the elements 
and then painted them all black with spray paint.

Okay, here is my layout for November. I took the word "Black" and used that as a major part of my color scheme. I loved these MME papers for this one. I took the picture of my dd and Toby last week after a visit to the pumpkin patch.

I used a halloween collection added lots of black accents, title and 

sprayed with Charcoal colored Chalkboard Glimmer Mist.

My take on the black challenge! :) 

I waited too long for my brother's homecoming pic! 

I wanted to keep it sleek and simple so the photo stands out.

The Mexican holiday "Day of The Dead" has always been fascinating to me. It's celebrated on November 1 and 2 with family and includes lots of food, color, flowers and fireworks. I really like the idea of having a designated time to mourn and then celebrate those in your family who have passed on. The calaveras (skulls) in this photo are actually really cool plaster but breakable so I left them in the store. I colored most of the flowers here using Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam in "Oil Slick" and some black acrylic paint. Tip on shooting black on black- shoot in open shade (right next to a window) and use a bounce card.

I used a Making Memories flocked cardstock and dusted it with black PanPatels. The photo is Lightroom edited with a few presets. To tie things back in I used another piece of the flocked cardstock in original form and a matching glittered cardstock for the title. The quote says, "Music is the moonlight in the gloomy night of life," written in silver ink.

here is mine for the black challenge- I did use color, 

but all my embellishments are either 

black or blackish. the doilies are misted with black magic.

1. Where do you find the most inspiration for your scrapbooking? 

Mostly sketches. I LOVE sketches and can't do a thing without one. I am very inspired by clean and simple designs usually. :)

2. Do you have a favorite manufacturer? favorite fellow designer? 

Hmm, favorite manufacturer? I can't just name one really for paper, but I wouldn't know what to do without American Craft Thickers! I LOVE those things!

3. How old were you when you had your first kiss? (optional question!) 

It was the summer before my 9th grade year, so I was about 13 or 14? I still talk to my first kiss and it is very strange to think of that part of our friendship now that we are FAR from dating. LOL!

4. What is your favorite lipstick, lip gloss or lip treatment? 

I swear by cherry Chapstick. For a hint of color, I used tinted/colored lip gloss though. :)
